PROJECT OVERVIEW
THE CONTEXT
Now days we are living in the world of “Diet Culture”. The advantages of the dietary culture are to encourage good nutrition and healthy eating to enhance general wellbeing. Diet-related problems are common for many people, including those with specific dietary restrictions, health conditions, or lifestyle choices.
At present, there are all sorts of nutrition and diet mobile solutions available with different features -
-
Calorie counter apps
-
Weight Management apps
-
Recipe applications
-
Niche diet tracking apps
-
Fitness-focused applications
-
Wager apps

So, how's DIETEzee different?
THE CHALLENGE
THE SHIFT
Today, the diet and nutrition apps are not just fulfilling their core goal of helping users build and sustain healthy eating habits through personalized nutrition guidance, tracking, and behavior change techniques but are also ready to shift their focus from just being a personal tracking tool to a social-impact-driven health solution that fights malnutrition, prevents diseases, and encourages sustainable well-being by aligning themselves to the United Nations SDG’s.

Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 ensures healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. We observed that diet apps these days resonates very well with this goal by promoting better nutrition, preventing diseases, and encouraging healthy habits at both an individual and community level. Features like mindful eating tips, hydration reminders, and emotional eating tracking improves users' overall well-being, and helps them make informed food choices.

RESEARCH & PLANNING
I did the preliminary secondary research to understand the context better instrumental in positioning of DIETEzee. A competitive analysis was also done to identify the potential gaps and opportunities for this project. Data on current nutrition-based digital tools was also gathered from pertinent literature reviews and internet sources.

To get comprehensive inputs on diet apps and its usability, while also understanding about specific challenges faced by users (health & nutrition enthusiasts) I collected data through an intensive questionnaire having both Qualitative & Quantitative questions across five sections-
-
demographic information;
-
user experience with current diet & nutrition apps;
-
integrated features and expectations;
-
personalization interests;
-
pricing & data privacy
The respondents were a niche group of health and fitness enthusiasts who often spend their time, money and energy in using such apps and were instrumental in giving us valuable insights. The data collected was analyzed using inferential statistics to derive meaningful insights.
Findings-
-
In qualitative studies, statistics showed that participants prefer applications that were quick and easy to administer, and those that increase awareness of food intake and weight management.
-
They expressed a need for culturally appropriate, tailored health messages to increase knowledge and awareness of health behaviors such as healthy eating.

USER PERSONA

DESIGNING THE

In order to simplify nutrition tracking, enhance user engagement, and ensures data privacy while promoting long-term healthy habits, we thought to execute the following objectives & mission statement as DIETEzee's key positioning strategy-
-
Seamless navigation with intuitive UI
-
AI-Powered Personalization
-
Time-Saving Food Logging
-
Verified nutritionist insights for better meal planning.
-
Enhanced User Engagement & Motivation
-
Pocket-Friendly & Sustainable Meal Planning platform
-
Integration with Smart Devices & Wearables
-
Top-Tier Data Privacy & Security
Mission Statement-
" We are all about nutrition, differentiated by design, enabled by technology".
THE CONCEPT
Our concept focused and revolved around the key question- Why users will install DIETEzee??
-
AR-powered Food Recognition: Using computer vision, the app can identify food from photos and automatically log it, saving time.
-
Integration with Wearable Devices: Sync with fitness trackers or smartwatches to track physical activity and sync nutritional data.
-
Voice Command Support: Allow users to log food or ask for recommendations via voice commands, providing hands-free interaction for convenience.
-
Personalized Nutrition Plans: Using AI, the app could suggest personalized meal plans based on genetic data, activity levels, or health metrics.
-
Add free app with very few advanced features which are paywall protected for subscription users.
-
Functioning as a wager app where users can place a "bet" with their friends or a community pool by setting a goal within a specific timeframe. This game mechanism will encourage the user to work hard towards achieving the goal.
WIREFRAMING & PROTOTYPING

Low-fidelity sketches outlining the foundational layout and user flows . These early visualizations focus on key differentiating features of DIETEzee, and the app’s core structure to guide design decisions.

The DIETEzee design system establishes showcasing a cohesive visual language support intuitive navigation, personalization, and accessibility. It includes a scalable set of components, typography, color schemes, and iconography tailored for a health-focused user experience.

High-fidelity prototypes of DIETEzee bring the user journey to life with personalized nutrition tracking, meal log, recipes of healthy meals, community-driven insights, and a clean, user-friendly interface.
USABILITY TESTING
Once the prototypes were built, I conducted Usability testing with our prospective target users to gain insights upon their usability, their ease of accessibility, their visual/verbal responses, etc. This was important for us to validate the solution and make meaningful iterations wherever needed.
Few important insights that stood out during this process were-
-
How easy was it to log food and track daily intake? - The diary layout is clear and well-structured. The “Scan” feature looks exciting, but since it’s just a prototype, it’s unclear how it works. A short description or tooltip would be useful for users.
-
Did you find the meal suggestions and search useful?- The meal cards look visually appealing, and the division into Planner, Recipes, and Supplements is a great idea. However, it would be even better with a filter option (e.g., filter by calories, prep time, or ingredients).
-
Did you face any confusion when editing or deleting logged food entries? -There’s no clear option to edit or delete a food entry in the prototype. If a mistake happens, how do I fix it? A swipe-to-edit or delete feature would be useful.

These above changes gave us the long term goals for DIETEzee, as to how it can evolve into a fully accessible, intuitive, and intelligent nutrition platform that simplifies food logging, enhances discoverability of meal options through smart filtering, and offers seamless control over user entries. The goal is to ensure a frictionless experience by integrating context-aware guidance (like tooltips) and dynamic interaction patterns (such as swipe-to-edit), all while supporting users in achieving their health goals confidently and efficiently.

CONCLUSION
The future of diet and nutrition apps is bright, with the market expected to grow significantly in the coming years. The continued development of these apps will be driven by the increasing demand for personalized health and wellness solutions. This future of nutrition is being shaped by the concept of personalized diets, offering a more effective and tailored approach to health and wellness. With successful implementation of its core features DIETEzee could then think of its next step to expand and innovate to maintain a competitive edge.
